How To Create A Professional and Valuable Catalog For Any Business In House For Pennies

Catalog book  Are you longing for a better low cost, highly efficient and effective way to keep your customers informed by catalog?
  • Do you shy away from updating your present catalog because of the high cost of creating it?
  • Have you ever imagined how much your business would benefit from having a brand new catalog every week or as often as you wanted for virtually no cost?
  • You already know more catalogs, sent more often and always up to date and inclusive means more profits.
  • You are acutely aware that future profit depends upon your own low cost ability to get your products in front of as many customers as possible and in a manner ranked highly by your customers.

Wouldn't you be happy if you could add those new products to your very own catalog continuously, and remove those duds or old unfavourable items at will.

Wouldn't your customers value tailor-made or personalised catalogs to suit their own special situations.

My name is Tony Roocroft and I will tell you a bit later how I conquered the traditional catalog monster that ate up all my money and time only to be out of date as soon a published. I developed an in-house cost effective method  of using everyday computer tools to design catalogs with great impact without any of the serious cost, time wasted drawbacks of the traditional catalog.

Hello Tony, I recently purchased your ebook: How to create low cost In-House Catelogs for E-mail and the Web. I would like to thank you for putting together such an informative and useful book. Your ebook was worth many times what I paid for it. I started doing business on the internet about 2 and a half years ago and have had no formal training of any kind in any software application. Because of this I have had to struggle with incomprehensible jargon and corporate speak to figure out exactly what was trying to be conveyed to me the reader. Help files in software programs should be called something else because they never really seem to put the answers in lay mans terms. Your ebook was designed so that anyone can understand the techniques and implement them. At last someone who doesn't need to puff up each sentence with high brow language and confusing jargon that only a select few understand or appreciate. I recommend to anyone that has a need to create a low cost catalog to purchase your book. In my opinion its the best bang for your buck you'll ever spend.

My system is really about
"Catalogs For All ... More Profits For You"

Catalog layout examples download pdf example, file only 396 kB. You will be amazed

The unique catalog system devised will

  • Put you or your company into a position to save a lot of money, time and wasted energy. More important you will make  more sales and capture the hearts and minds of your customers.
  • You will be able to create a real competitive advantage by doing something few if any of your competitors can do.
  • You will be able to energize your sales force and dramatically improve their effectiveness.

    Never forget  ......
  • Your customer always needs your catalog NOW, without having to search for it or he will use some other suplier's
  • Your catalog must be in front of your customer 24 hours a day every day. It must include at least ...
  • Up to date prices
  • SKU number
  • Bar codes
  • Descriptions
  • Pictures

Your catalog should be  immediately and quickly available. Your catalog is better if it contains

  • Important sales aids
  • Performance information
  • Reference data and it is
  • All in one place and Easy to locate.

It sounds too good to be true, I know. However it is true and it is practical and it is low cost and it is effective. I know because I discovered the system for myself after spending ( I should say wasting) over a period of almost 10 years many $’000’s of dollars on conventional catalogs and price list approaches to my wide customer base.

Answer these questions for yourself ....... Familiar aren’t they?
  • Who makes money from producing a catalog?
  • Who in practice generates greatly increased sales from producing an expensive glossy catalog once a year?
  • Who makes money from printing a revised catalog edition?
  • Can your customer ever find your catalog when you visit him?
  • Even if the customer was able to find the catalog could he find the most recent up to date price list that matched the catalog?
  • Does your catalog have discontinued items in it?
  • Have you introduced new products since the last catalog was produced and nobody knows about them?
  • Do you feel reluctant to hand out that catalog to a casual enquiry because it cost so much and you have only got 200 left – 200 for whom?
  • Where do you hide the catalogs when you go to the trade show?
  • Have you ever arrived at the customer and said “Sorry I forgot the price list or the catalog because you did not have any left.”

Have you ever said to yourself?

· I wish I could find a way to update my catalog every month or even every day if I wanted to and get this to all my customers quickly and at extremely low cost.

· My catalog must always contain up to date prices. Prices must be printed on the same page as the picture, the bar code, the description, the ordering code, the specification and other relevant information.

· If only I could get my catalog to my customer on demand quickly, cheaply, and in such a way the customer could not lose it. In fact the customer must be able to copy it, print it, share it, and even forward it to another branch or person with no hassle.

· I would like to make my catalog available to anyone anywhere in the world at any time by email including all color pictures but in a way it takes a very short time to download. In particular I must make sure it takes a very short time to download. I do not want a web site to do this. I recognize that many customers have slow internet connections and also use dial-up connection methods.

· I have introduced 30 new products and discontinued 40 old ones and I cannot just print a new catalog for this. Nor can I rely upon my customer to add deletions and additions to an existing catalog as much as this is theoretically possible and perhaps not unreasonable to request since I gave the customer the catalog in the first place in a special file to make this easy (in theory!!!!).

· It must not take me more than 1 hour to add 20 new products to my catalog and update all prices. It must take me considerably less to remove 20 products

· It must not take more than 10 minutes to update just the prices in my catalog.

· I will leave my price increases until the new catalog is produced although I know this will cost me a lot of lost revenue and profit.

Don’t we all know the problems these real practical events create for our company and in particular its customer relationship and sales capability.

For sure your customer will lose interest in your products if he cannot immediately access correct and up to date prices when he looks into your catalog. To make this worse he will order from the competitor if he can find theirs first.

Normally it takes so long to get a catalog produced it is bound to be out of date by the time it reaches your customer.

Have you ever stopped to think who does the most of the hard and boring slog work anyway? Of course it was you, YES YOU!

The designer needed your ideas, your words, often your pictures, your prices, your bar codes, your descriptions, your preferred layout and so it goes on.

Finally the designer needed your money and the printer also needed your money. This is before one copy reaches the customer so there are postage and other distribution costs to remember also.

And you know what you need to make a whole lot more sales to just pay for the work done. Work that looks great and of which we are very proud no doubt but is pretty useless if we are honest with ourselves or if we view it from our customers’ point of view.

Don’t you feel a bit annoyed when you get that whopping bill detailing:

· Studio work
· Scanning cost
· First draft layout
· Second layout
· Colour proofs
· Creation of positives
· Printing and it continues until you get to the bottom line which says
· Total $ ‘000’s upon delivery of first catalog

Now when you come to do a revised catalog blow me down if you don’t have to start from scratch again because you cannot change the layout – even though you asked the designer to allow for this in the first design.

You discover you need new pictures, revised layout, new words, new proofs, new printing plates and so on and so on. It never stops. This is not surprising and in fact to be expected because all good business have a vital need to innovate and change continuously.

Now think carefully about this because I am sure we will agree:

1. ANY CUSTOMER NEEDS UP TO DATE FULL PRODUCT INFORMATION WHEN THEY WANT IT AND NOT WHEN YOU WANT TO GIVE IT TO THEM.

2. ALL SUPPLIERS NEED TO GET THEIR INFORMATION IN A PRIORITY POSITION ON THE CUSTOMER’S DESK – BEFORE THE COMPETITOR DOES THIS. CUSTOMERS ARE BUSY PEOPLE WHO HAVE LITTLE INCLINATION TO CONSIDER THE SUPPLIER TOO MUCH. CUSTOMERS BUY FROM SUPPLIERS THEY HAVE EASY AND IMMEDIATE (at the time) ACCESS TO.

Here's my story ......
This is how I came to develop my cataloguing system after 7 years of knowing I needed it BUT I did not know how to do it.

I started my own gardening products distribution business almost 11 years ago after spending some 25 years as a chemical engineer/manager in the chemical industry – I have no artistic capability worth talking about. My company focused and still does on selling high quality specialized water gardening products internationally.

In this 11 year period I introduced hundreds of very different products to my customer base and over the years have discontinued and replaced many of these products. Communicating all these changes to my customers was a mammoth task as you can imagine. Not all of the products were successes so do not let me for a moment suggest I have a magic touch when it comes to discovering products that make a fortune easily all the time – Oh, if only it was so simple.

Most of the products were imported or exported. As a result price changes occurred continuously because exchange rates happen to behave like this. Packaging also tended to change and this was totally out of my control as a distributor of those imported and branded products.

My company produced using skilled designers very attractive high quality glossy full color catalogs of which I felt very proud. The cost was high in terms of money and time (my time and my cost mainly).

Despite my pride in the finished catalogs I found these exercises highly frustrating and wasteful because I seemed to be required to do most of the donkey work and all of the checking.

After much frustration, and of course this should be obvious to everybody (but strangely isn't) it finally dawned upon me that catalogs MUST be designed for the customer and not the supplier. This means giving the customer updated accurate information including pictures and price at the customer’s convenience. Thus I was left with no choice but to dispense with traditional cataloguing methods (and thankfully expenses too).

This well known but frequently overlooked “discovery” of what the customer REALLY needed allowed me to set up the following objectives. The customer had to have at least one computer capable of receiving e mail.

These were my objectives, compare them to yours:

Produce a catalog method that allowed the combination of price, general product information and picture in one place and allowed the update easily of either one or the other without any designer/outside skills and ......

  1. Ensure the method allows rapid and accurate addition of new products in full color picture format, deletion of old products, as well as allowing for accurate pricing, specification, pack size information etc updates very quickly and easily no matter how many products were in the catalog.
  2. This must be able to be done without any special skills or dedicated desk top publishing software although basic software in use in almost all offices was necessary as was running Window software.
  3. The finished catalog must be able to be maintained by any average office person with very basic training.
  4. Most critically the finished catalog must be able to be emailed as a very small file size despite possibly having many color pictures in it.
  5. Once emailed the catalog had to be in a format almost anyone with a computer could access and use easily and without hassle and without them incurring any cost.
  6. The catalog once in the hands of the customer must be user friendly and allow products to be found quickly and easily.
  7. The catalog or portions of it could be used as an order form if required.
  8. The format of the catalog should be such that important sales aids, performance tables, POS aids etc could be included.
  9. The format should be such as to allow different pricing mechanisms to be included without creating a lot of effort.
  10. The format should allow a catalog to be custom made/personalized in a situation where a customer might want to display the catalog showing retail prices for example.
  11. It must NOT be a requirement that the customer had to access the WEB to access the catalog – in other words a web site was out of the question.
  12. The catalog should be able to be printed out by the supplier and by the customer on almost any office printer be it ink jet or laser, black and white or color.
  13. The customer must be able to share the catalog with whomever he chose to do so without reference to ourselves.
  14. The customer must not be able to change information in the catalog. This was a very important security consideration.

    Then What Happened?

Every single one of these objectives were met as I developed my catalog system now called

"Catalogs For All ... More Profits For You"

Catalog layout examples download pdf example, file only 396 kB. You will be amazed

As I look back I am amazed at how simple and inexpensive it really turned out to be. To date I have never seen anything remotely like my system for simplicity and effectiveness anywhere in the world.

I have shared the secrets to the system with very few people. Without exception none of them could believe how simple and effective it was.

Every person who has come into contact with my system has immediately seen, recognized and benefited from it.

    And There Was More:

In developing “Catalogs For All More Profits For You” I also learned a great deal on how to turn the internet into a great practical marketing tool. I learned the power of e-mailing and also how little so many people know about the email system they presently use. I use Internet Explorer like so many other millions around the world but only discovered what can really be achieved by using it effectively by developing “Catalogs For All More Profits For You”

These e mail Tips and Tricks are so simple to apply yet so immensely powerful I am embarrassed at how long it took me to recognize they were there for me to use all the time.

    What’s In It For You?

I know that so many people out there are almost certainly looking (albeit sub-consciously perhaps) for really good sensible advice, systems, and techniques to create a better company or business based upon satisfying customer needs in a practical and low cost way.

It is important in selling a product of any kind that the purchaser feels that the purchase was worth it. This worth is measured in many ways all of which tend to be personal satisfaction and/or financially related.

Catalog System Manual ... Buy NOW

These are the benefits I got and which you will also get without doubt:

    · Considerable money savings
    · Major time savings allowing you to generate new opportunities
    · Far better control of your company catalog and information
    · Far wider distribution of your catalog
    · Less time in meetings with customers, agencies, printers and so on
    · Less visits to customers (most customers do not want to see you – they do want to know what you have to offer though)
    · Less postage charges and effort
    · More efficient customer response
    · And many more including a far better than average understanding of all practical aspects of e commerce

    My book
“Catalogs For All More Profits For You ... How To Create Low Cost In-House Catalogs And Save will explain the system from scratch in easy to follow detailed terms. The only software you need to own to create these catalogs is Microsoft Office or Lotus Smartsuite. The book is 110 pages of pure practical experience in pdf format meaning you need Adobe Acrobat to view it.

    Newly Published August 2003
The introductory cost is ONLY $19.00
It will sell in future at $39.00

You can pay in almost any major currency at the secure pages of Esellerate

Buy Catalog System Manual ... do not miss the introductory price

The book's explanations and techniques used are written and based upon Microsoft office. They are just as easily understood and implemented using Lotus.

PS ... Everything you need to know and immediately start to create your own catalog is included in my book. It is a tried and tested innovative technique to save $’000’s and time, yet dramatically increase sales.

PPS ... The book in addition identifies a new marketing opportunity that will allow you to capitalise on the techniques developed in “Catalogs For All” if you so wish. This could greatly benefit a person genuinely seeking a new career as a self employed individual with a desire to create a limited or even an all-encompassing international marketing capability. Every small business in your immediate vicinity can benefit immediately at virtually no cost.

To the best of my knowledge the information offered certainly with respect to the cataloguing system has not been published anywhere else and has never been offered for sale.

And finally yet important to many who will read this .....What Else Does This System Do?

If you have got this far you will have realized that this system is equally able to create Image and Photo collections including up to date descriptions and prices or specifications or other text based information required to “explain” the picture.

The output is able to be e-mailed easily and quickly and can equally as easily be opened and seen exactly as you intended it to be seen without the receiver spending a cent on software. Imagine the uses of this for the following professionals many of whom are self employed and cannot afford the time and expense of generating traditional catalogs. Who would typically benefit from this capability:

    · Estate agents
    · Niche business owners with special clientele requirements who need regular updates
    · Small communities wishing to promote their communities
    · Clubs and Societies
    · Schools and Colleges
    · Financial service agents
    · Any small business needing a low cost owner managed means for e-mailing pictures and information – even your local butcher could put this system to use.

Pond Professors Water Garden and Pond and Pumps Main Site |

Consider visiting the water and pond keeping related web sites created by the Pond Professor for water gardeners and home improvement enthusiasts worldwide. Ensure clean clear healthy ponds using pond bio filters and UV clarifiers. Add oxygen to pond water using aquatic plants. These sites cover far more than pond and fountain pumps.

Previous Water Gardens Gazette newsletters These free water gardens newsletters cover wide variety of topics on all matters to do with water gardens and pond keeping including | algae control in ponds to maintain clear water | string algae or blanket weed | ultra violet water purifier control of pond algae | ultra violet water filter as they are sometimes called | green algae eradication using aqua ultraviolet

How to select and choose aquatic plants for your pond or waterfall system ... they all help in keeping ponds clean and clear. Choosing the right pond pump is however very important if you keep fish.

Pond plants and garden ponds planting tip:-  How many aquatic pond plants? Here is a rule of thumb for deciding how many pond or aquatic plants to add to your garden pond. To each square metre of surface of the pond (or 10 square feet) .... 2 bunches of oxygenating plants or oxygenators, 1 water lily, 1 bog or marginal (shallow water) aquatic plant - these pond plants can also be planted around the perimeters of garden ponds. ...... all aquatic plants help to maintain a clean garden pond. If you are more interested in plants than fish then strong pond pumps should be avoided. For example water lilies do not like too much flow created by strong pumps and high waterfalls. Suspended algae are also plants and to keep water clear of suspended algae needs a UV light or ultra violet light clarifier sometimes incorrectly called sterilizer

Aquatic plants for your garden pond ... you need a pump if you keep fish

The Pond Professor's main web site providing access to many articles on all aspects of ponds and water gardening with and without aquatic pond plants. Contains information on how to select optimum pond pumps for ponds and waterfalls and where to get a great deal on your pump

Wanting to know how to specify pond filters for clean garden ponds containing koi or gold fish, pond liners submersible pumps for your own particular waterfall and ultra violet lights? Then here is the site to help you. There are also articles on pond plants and submersible water pumps for ponds and fountains and waterfalls. Suspended algae are also plants and to keep water clear of suspended algae needs a UV light or ultra violet light clarifier sometimes incorrectly called sterilizer

Wide range of articles on maintaining clean and clear (algae free) garden ponds, and choosing right pump for your water features and backyard waterfalls

Installing a garden pond and waterfall can be easier than you think. To keep it clean and clear it is important to understand how a fish pond operates. Aquatic plants also help in keeping a pond clean ... but do get the right pump if you keep gold fish or koi in your pond

Do you know the volume of your garden pond? You should for very good reasons. Keeping a pond clean clear and healthy using pond filters is simple and very important. The surface area of a pond is a good way to assess how many aquatic plants can be used in a pond. Understanding your pond volume will help you to choose the economic low cost pond pump including the waterfall requirement. This information also required for UV or ultra violet clarifier specification .... Suspended algae are also plants and to keep water clear of suspended algae needs a UV clarifier sometimes incorrectly called sterilizer

Pond algae control and clear pond water and waterfalls

  • If the fish pond algae problem is not resolved in a garden pond it is very likely that the fish will eventually die. The reason is that green fish pond algae are plants and therefore need oxygen to photosynthesise. Pond algae control using aqua ultraviolet is the only truly effective way.

  • If the population of green fish pond algae is very large they can remove all the oxygen from the water thereby suffocating the fish. Other harmful conditions start to appear in untreated green water situations. This makes it obvious that pond algae control is essential for pond health and appearance.

  • Large quantities of dead green fish pond algae can also sink to the bottom of the pond and create another serious health problem for the fish as the green algae decomposes.

Clean and clear garden ponds for koi or goldfish need the right pond or waterfall pump ... by the way koi eat pond or aquatic plants. Algae cause ponds to go green and murky

The heart of a garden pond especially when fish are in the pond is a the pond and waterfall pump. Larger natural ponds heavily planted with aquatic plants may not need a pump

A pond or waterfall pump is used to circulate water to ensure that the oxygen dissolved in the pond water reaches the bio filter. This bio filter is important to make sure clean and clear water is always available to the gold fish or koi. Of course oxygen is very important to the goldfish and koi themselves too. Oxygenators plants exist to improve oxygen levels in garden ponds. Suspended algae are also plants and to keep water clear of suspended algae needs a UV light or ultra violet light clarifier sometimes incorrectly called sterilizer

Pond and waterfall pumps help to clean ponds. Pump water through an UV light before the pond filter to control suspended green algae

A waterfall driven by the right sized submersible pump is a means of creating not just a soothing tranquil background sound. It helps to aerate water to assist in keeping a garden fish pond clean clear and healthy. Do not let water impinge on water plants in your pond especially water lilies. Continuous flow to the UV algae control clarifier is also needed

To be able to choose the right submersible pump for a waterfall is made easy here. In simple terms the waterfall pump needs information on height and lip width. Many waterfall arrangements have a special area where aquatic plants are grown so that the pond fish cannot eat them

Pond pumps are the very heart of any fish pond. Pond pumps need careful consideration

It is when something goes wrong that you need a supplier of pond or waterfall pumps  that will give you immediate attention. Remember the biofilter cannot wait a week while someone checks out your pond pumps fault. Make sure that the retailer who sells pond pumps carries spares and understands your pond pumps need to run all the time if you keep fish. Insist that fish pond pumps are checked in your presence and do not be put off by any other story. Remember it is also important to prevent ponds going murky through growth of suspended algae that a pump must supply the UV clarifier continuously

Some well known brands ponds and waterfalls pumps

A waterfall feature, or fountain with a few aquatic plants possibly add character to any garden and home. Small fountains normally mean only small specially designed fountain pumps are needed. Small systems tend to go green from suspended algae quickly. An UV clarifier can resolve this problem permanently

Keep your waterfall, fountain and pond clean and clear yet save money on the right fountain pump .... if you install a UV clarifier to control green suspended pond algae you will certainly need a pump. A pond filter is important if you have fish. For simple fountain ornaments there are numerous pond clear chemicals available. Even the smallest fountains or features can have aquatic plants of the miniature type

Garden and pond water fountains with or without fish need to be clean. Consider a few small aquatic plants and choose a fountain or waterfall pump carefully if you intend to have an UV clarifier

Low cost fiberglass ponds, waterfalls and water features make water gardening simplicity itself and adding a few pond plants is easily accomplished even in small water features such as barrels. Barrel type features do not always need a submersible pump if planted well and have only a few small gold fish. UV clarifiers prevent green water caused by suspended algae

Lightweight, strong and totally weatherproof fountains, ponds and waterfalls made form fiberglass. Modern natural looking waterfalls and water features make it low cost and easy to install highly attractive water features indoors, or outdoors. Complete the feature with a few well selected pond plants and a suitable water feature pump if required. If you have persistent murky green pond you may to buy an ultra violet light to control algae.

Fiberglass water features, and waterfalls easy to install, add a couple of aquatic plants and a small pump easy to keep clean with a pond filter. To keep clear consider ultra violet (UV) light

I learned a lot about water gardening products from selling UK pond products such as biofilters for clean and healthy ponds over the last 11 + years. Places like Stapeley Water Gardens have magnificent aquatic plant displays.  http://www.aboutbritain.com/stapeleywatergardens.htm I started off by selling the Lotus pond and waterfall pump range made in UK and Italy. Blagdon and Hozelock make excellent pumps for UK submersible pond and waterfalls pump market

Need a water heater or water softener for the home or pond? ... learn how to choose the right product for your home especially. Most large koi ponds in the colder climates these days have automatic water heating systems installed. Water is pumped through a heat exchanger normally. Standby pond and waterfall pumps are necessary to prevent failures. Good links to pond algae control using UV or ultra violet light as well as pond and waterfall pumps

This is a new web site geared to providing links to important articles about clean clear and healthy pond keeping. It also provides link to other water products used in the home such as water heaters. Koi ponds use winter water heating extensively especially in UK and USA where there lots of very serious koi keepers who wish that the pond fish maintain growth throughout long winters. This means pond water must be heated and maintained at about 15 degrees C. Good links to pond pump and pond algae control articles

Real ponds, waterfall, water heaters, water filters and water softeners. Sophisticated koi keepers pump water through heat exchangers during winter to warm up pond water

Keeping pond fish and koi in South Africa ... lots of sun means extra special attention to clean and clear ponds is wanted (UV controls pond algae). Pond plants alone cannot keep a fish pond clean and clear normally. Make sure you choose the right Focus pond and waterfall pump. Tables and charts make waterfall pump selection very easy and reliable especially if you want to save money on your pond or waterfall pump choice.

This site is differently designed to cater for my normal customers who live in my own country South Africa. Our long hours of sunshine pose special pond cleaning problems. UV light is very essential for clear ponds here and the more aquatic plants are used the better in order to provide oxygen through photosynthesis process. This site is especially useful for Focus pond and waterfall pump selection including pumps for waterfalls and fountains and ultra violet (UV) algae control using UV light

South African koi ponds and bio filters for clean clear ponds. Always consider a few aquatic plants. Choose pond and waterfall pumps confidently and also control green algae

Peter J May is one of the best practically minded water gardens and landscapers you will find. Peter lives in England and has written a pond book called The Perfect Pond Detective. Peter is a wealth of information on aquatic pond plants, pond algae control using UV and submersible pumps too. If you want to build your own waterfall you need Peter's book.

Looking for real practical advice on building ponds of all shapes and sizes as well as formal and informal waterfalls, streams and above ground ponds or fountains? Peter's articles advise on best pond plants to use in and around the pond. He can also advise UK visitors on correct pond pump selection, bio filters and UV clarifiers used to control pond algae and murky pond water

Save money on the right type of home water heater ... gas, oil or electric. And if you are thinking of heating a koi pond then do understand the principles well

Learn how to choose the perfect economical and value for money hot water heater for your home, or RV.

Winter heating of large koi ponds needs reliable and efficient pond and waterfall pumps. Reliability of the pump is especially critical

Clean and clear fish ponds (clear ponds need uv lights to control suspended algae) ... this is what you want all the time and pond plants help and pond and waterfall pumps are essential if you keep gold fish or koi

Fish ponds free of ammonia and nitrite impurities are clean fish ponds even though the ponds concerned might be green or cloudy. This is the most important function of pond filters. Of course pond filters remove some solids too but the primary job of pond filters is to purify the garden pond water ... I cannot stress this too much. By all means also use aquatic pond plants to help this cleaning process. Make sure you also choose the right pond and waterfall pump. Bio filters do not remove pond algae ... to keep a pond crystal clear needs more than a filter. It needs an UV clarifier for algae control

Aquatic plants in a garden pond supplement action of bio filters, ultra violet (UV) lights and submersible pond and waterfall pumps in keeping any pond clean and clear
